We stayed in Villa Emerald and had a fantastic time with the ocean steps from our door. This type of accommodation is my favorite, where you have a kitchen and can operate independently in a gorgeous location without having to rely on restaurants, especially with our small kids (there are restaurants a short walk away down the beach). The concierge Michaela made sure we had whatever we needed when we needed it, which was an unexpected bonus. We would return in a heartbeat!

I've traveled the world and Villa Emerald is in my Top Five of favorite destinations! We stayed for a week and experienced it all: waking up to incredible beach views every day, massage on the dock over the water, Secret Beach fun, relaxing at the lovely pool, magnificent meals at nearby restaurants, and of course, world class snorkeling. And to top it off, the LaPerla staff took exceptional care of us.
La Perla made our trip so easy. We landed in San Pedro after a short plane ride from Belize City. From there, a van took us to the boat dock and we had a refreshing boat ride to the La Perla resort. Porters were there to carry our luggage up the beach and we were greeted with a big sign welcoming us by name and with fresh coconuts, complete with a straw to savor the yummy juice. Every detail was thought of - our stay here was on par with a recent stay I had at the luxurious Waldorf-Astoria in Cabo San Lucas. They arranged a golf cart rental, arranged our boating adventures, and suggested things to do based on our interests.
Whether you're on vacation as a couple, a family, or for a wedding - or like us and combining some work time with vacation time, I highly recommend Villa Emerald. It's amazing!

Piece of Paradise at Villa Emerald and La Perla

A long-time high school friend and I took in some much needed island time after many weeks of demanding work schedules. From the moment we decided to visit Villa Emerald, we experienced wonderful concierge service from start to finish. Michaela and Marj (villa’s concierge and property manager) took care of our trip details and ensured our adventures went smoothly. Marj arranged our flight over to Ambergris Caye, and when we landed, Roberto met us and swept us away to La Perla on his boat. Upon arrival, we were greeted with chilled coconut water in coconuts taken from the trees outside our villa. Villa Emerald is just off the La Perla pier, yet still has its own “private beach feel” view of the Caribbean. Many evenings and mornings we sat on the expansive deck in comfy lounge chairs admiring the beauty and calmness that appeared to never end. It was truly the reprieve we both needed.
Be sure to rent a golf cart (which of course Marj arranged) so you can visit the super fun Secret Beach just 10 min away or to go into San Pedro for dinner – although there are fabulous dining options on both sides of La Perla. If adventure is what you are looking for, Roberto is there to coordinate a snorkeling or dive trip and he even picked us up outside our villa on the pier. Next time I’ll bring my husband so we can experience this little piece of heavenly paradise together. Until next time….thank you Marj, Michaela, and La Perla for sharing your Caribbean hospitality like no other.

I stayed at LaPerla, Emerald for 7 days.
The Emerald Villa specifically was wonderful. It is appointed well and very comfortable. Looking out the front door at the ocean and laying on the chaise lounge on the front deck overlooking the ocean brought a peacefulness and calm feeling to me. There is nothing more relaxing than listening to the surf, or watching the distant lightning as a storm approaches.
There are great dining choices within walking distance that we enjoyed. We enjoyed the in home massage arranged through LaPerla!
Of course the scuba diving is superb, and dive shops are easily accessed from LaPerla (11 dives in 6 days).

This place was amazing! Literally right on the water. Villa Emerald the one we stayed in, was the best IMO. The service was top notch, if you needed anything Michaela and staff were on it. We wanted to go out snorkeling at like 2:30pm randomly one day, we hit up Roberto and his only response ever was “sure”. We spent most of the days on the water with Roberto’s guys- Mr.Chocolate was the best for snorkeling, he knows every single specie of fish and educates you while taking you to all the right spots. House keeping comes in every day, picks up your dirty laundry, washes, folds it and returns it next day. Michaela had a golf cart lined up for us for the week, she coordinated massages for inside our villa and made sure we always had transportation on our travel days. The only bummer I have is the sargassum in the waters edge all down our beach was pretty heavy so we couldn’t just jump in the water from our porch, but the view was incredible! The service was exceptional, the staff was amazing and we will most definitely be back! Notes: Hol Chan a must. Eat the Marie Sharp’s hot sauce with everything, it’s so good, reef fishing was killer, Secret beach has the best piña colada’s, and use lots of sunblock and bug spray!

It started before we even got down there. Michaela was wonderful coordinating our flight over to the Caye for my family and myself. Had us a taxi waiting when we got there and transported our luggage to our our beautiful Emerald Villa. She checked on us twice a day to see how we were doing and whenever we needed anything she was on top of it. Norma came after we checked in and set us up with several trips. The 2 fishing trips she set up with New Day Adventures was amazing. She also set up Chef Maria to come in to cook part of our catch and OMG you can’t go wrong with her. Page house keepers were exceptional as well. They had flowers everywhere when we got there. On our anniversary they had it signed out on our bed in flowers and for our sons birthday, Happy Birthday spelled out on his bed. They kept the place clean, washed our dishes and made our beds. They would have washed our clothes if we had wanted. The place itself was amazing, comfortable and my favorite was sitting in the hammock in morning off my bedroom, sipping my coffee, reading my book with the breeze and the sound of the surf off the reef.

The staff were absolutely wonderful to my family and I. We stayed in the villa emerald and had the most beautiful view from our porch while drinking coffee. Each of the two rooms had their own hammock and we took regular naps in the sun while relaxing in them. Our rooms were completely gorgeous, decorated with fresh flowers and art. Security and housekeeping regularly checked in with us to make sure we were doing okay. Shawn and Michaela ensured we had one of the greatest vacations we have ever experienced, we will be returning next year!

We enjoyed staying at La Perla in late December/early January 2020. The service from Michaela, the Maintenance staff led by Shawn and the housekeepers was top notch. The weather was beautiful, the home was impeccable and we enjoyed the semi-remote location which was close to activities and really nice restaurants as well as recreation and spa options.

We did some snorkeling and had a blast! My niece's wedding was on the beach at La Perla Del Caribe and reception was at The Truck Stop! Everything was perfect! Would definitely come back for a relaxing retreat!

The photo is real. The Emerald is the best unit on the property but all are very nice. Pool is right around the corner. This is not a swimming off the sand kind of beach but amazing view and very private setting. The property is greatly maintained and the villa is suited for two couples or a family with kids. Bed linens, towels all nice and ample. Golf cart a must. Walking distance to plenty of eating options but we did breakfast onsite. Take a flashlight for dinner ventures. Felt very safe. Staff very helpful. Mosquitos present of course, but manageable with spray. Take this reservation if you want quiet, no people, private, serene. Plenty of day trips recommended: fishing, snorkeling for sure. Check out Secret Beach but only at Blue Bayou to the left of the chaos. Mesa downtown was great lunch, get the burger. We hired a private boat for outings ask staff for Russel. Golf carts are only $250 for the week. Lots of fun potholes in the road coming in from town. Tip generously as their minimum wage is only $2.50. Enjoy!

We had a very relaxing time in Belize. The house and property around our villa was very nice and clean and Alexa did a great job of keeping us busy with great suggestions for dining and activities. We were extremely displeased with the fact that we were given no warning about the weeds and horrific odor coming from the water. The smell crept into the villa. We met one of the owners and he was very displeased as well and arranged for a 100$ gift certificate for dining which was a nice gesture. He also told us that the owner of our villa was there the week before which honestly is a bit unsettling that she didn’t bother warning us of the odor and mess. If she would have taken the time to let us know we could have at least made the decision to come on or change our plans. The men working tirelessly to clean it up were also great and stayed on top of it while we were there.
We truly hate to have to give this review this was as everything else was absolutely perfect.

This was our second time staying at La Perla, but first time at villa emerald. We stayed there with our 3 children (ages 2,4,and 9) and we’re able to truly relax in privacy without worrying a bit with them. They played with the coconuts, hammocks, swings, and had a last in the pool. The villa has a washer and dryer which is a huge plus! Well equipped kitchen and great AC! It’s about a 25 minute golf cart ride to town, 15 minute to secret beach, 15 mins to truck stop (a fave of ours). Plenty of restaurants around the resort as well. There is a tiny grocery store about a mile south of the resort that will have all of your basics, i would recommend picking up fruit from a stand in town.
The La Perla has a very private feel and we love this about the villa, my favorite was relaxing on the deck after the kids had gone to bed. We will 100% be back again!

We stayed in the Villa Emerald the end of February and had an amazing time. The resort grounds were maintained very well, and our Villa was perfect. Loved the location of the Emerald, just steps from the ocean and unobstructed views from the large patio. The only negative of the beach was all the sea grass, the resort workers worked hard to remove it, but there was always some out there. For us, the beauty of the Villa, the resort grounds and service made up for that negative. We also enjoyed the kayaks daily, very fun to paddle out a ways and snorkel! We would go back in a heartbeat and have been missing it ever since we left!

We stayed here in March 2018 and spent a week in Belize. The pictures of the Villa are exactly what you get and the staff were wonderful. The view was gorgeous and they provided water, ice, and the kitchen was stocked with dishes.
I'd recommend with only one caveat--Belize gets Sea grass blown in and if it sits on the beach it gets stinky. It is all over the one side of the island. The staff here worked diligently to remove it(several hours a day) but if you happen to be here at a time that sea grass blows in, you will have staff out front working to remove it. We didn't mind the smell as they kept removing it, but it made it difficult to enjoy laying in the hammock out front if you have 5 guys working hard to remove it. It doesn't happen all the time and you have it all on the main side of the island so wherever you rent--- but it is something I would want to know before renting this villa.

Simply AMAZING! From our very first interaction with La Perla Del Caribe until leaving Villa Emerald after our stay, we were overwhelmed by the EXCEPTIONAL care and attention we received (family of 7). Villa Emerald is paradise!! The accommodations were beautiful and we felt like we had our own private beach...really could not believe the views from the deck - SPECTACULAR! We used the complimentary kayak's almost everyday to paddle out to the reef to snorkel - LOVED being able to do that!! (We brought our own snorkeling gear). The kitchen was perfectly appointed with all the amenities needed. We were able to prepare and eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Villa or enjoyed being able to walk on the beach to Portofino, Sun Deck, and Rojo Beach Bar for food & drinks. We HIGHLY recommend both La Perla Del Caribe and Villa Emerald!!

Perfect Island Getaway!

The location was perfectly located to provide peace and serenity but it was also just a short golf cart ride to town. When walking up to the condo, at first glance we were floored with how beautiful the exterior view of the condo was but that wasn't all. The second we walked in to the condo we were immediately welcomed with a feeling of comfort, relaxation and cleanliness within the villa. The concierge (Alexis and Felix) were nothing short of amazing, they were both extremely accommodating not to mention they also helped me plan my proposal. I couldn't have done it without them, with all of their help, we succeeded, I got engaged on the beautiful white sandy beach in front of La Perla Villa Emerald! Our trip to San Pedro and our stay at Villa Emerald will be a trip we will never forget and we will definitely be going back!
Last but not least, very important, the only thing I can say for future visitors, pack the strongest deet you can find because the sand flies (aka botlass flies) are the worst. Other than that everything was perfect!

Perfection on the Beach

Villa Emerald is part of La Perla, a private villa enclave. I think this is the best villa. Very private, completely updated, and right on the beach, just north of busy San Pedro but convenient to everything. Everything you need. Water taxi is just a few feet away, taking you anywhere on Ambergris Caye. Villa sleeps six, all beds are a dream with great comforters, state of art air conditioning (trust me you want this), bathrooms are huge. Everything you need, great kitchen, wifi, flat screen cable TV, huge great room to congregate while watching the ocean. Fantastic pool is literally just a few steps away from deck. Great restaurants just a beach walk away. And great bars! Coming back as soon as I can! My husband had his best vacation ever!

Villa Emerald is Fantastic

I had the opportunity to stay at Villa Emerald, located at La Perla, for 7 nights in early October 2017. To say my stay was satisfactory is an understatement. Villa Emerald was the perfect lodging experience for my trip. The villa has an excellent beach front view and is 100 steps away from the nearest dock to catch a water taxi to take you to San Pedro or any location you wish along the coast of Ambergris Caye. The villa has two bedrooms that can accommodate 6. Each bedroom as a very spacious full bathroom. Each bedroom has its own AC unit and the living room / kitchen has two AC units and they do a great job at keeping the entire house cool and comfortable. The kitchen is fully loaded, you will be able to cook anything you want. The Villa also has its own Laundry room with a washer and dryer. I really enjoyed my stay at La Perla, the location is excellent and private. You are only 15 steps away from the beach and are within walking distance of great restaurants. You will not be disappointing with your stay at Villa Emerald.

We were two couples in this spacious and newly renovated 2 bedroom, beachfront villa. We went diving and then kicked back on the expansive deck while a chef prepared a meal for us. The concierge organized a masseuse to come to the villa as well. We loved our entire stay at La Perla and may come back next year.

I stayed at La Perla, specifically Villa Emerald in June.
There are so many things to appreciate about La Perla. Wonderful restaurants are within walking distance. The grounds of La Perla are manicured daily, and throughout the day, including the beach front (walking up and down the beach, this isn’t the case at other properties). The swimming pool is wonderful, with easy access due to its central location to the Villa’s. Accessing the water taxi is easy, as it is a short walk to the pier, where there is a covered seating area. Wonderful restaurants are within walking distance, Portofino’s to the north and Matachica’s and Rojo’s to the south. As a Scuba Diver, we ate breakfast and lunch at The Dive Bar, which is a short water taxi ride away.
The accommodations of Villa Emerald were perfect. The best part of Villa Emerald is its commanding view of the ocean, as it sits 25 feet from the ocean front. The house offers a covered outdoor seating area facing the ocean off each of its two bedrooms, as well as an expansive wood deck on the front with comfortable lounge chairs and an outdoor table with bench seating. The house itself has a large central room perfect for serving as the family gathering place, including a large built in table that we gathered around for our morning coffee or for dinner (when we ate in). The room has been updated with antique furniture which gives the room a very comfortable, Caribbean feel. The kitchen is furnished with a full-sized refrigerator, more than large enough to accommodate our party of 4 for a week. In addition, it has an oven and stove top, microwave and dishwasher, all providing the convenience of home. The master suite is expansive, and well decorated. The guest room is also large, and has 2 queen size beds. Both the master and guest bathrooms are large. Both rooms offered plenty of closet space and drawers. Since it gets warm in Belize, some would say hot, Emerald has 4 (apparently new) AC units to maximize our comfort. One in each bedroom and two in the central room!
I can’t imagine a better location and a better home, as it checked every box on our vacation home wish list! I will definitely return!

The Emerald villa at La Perla del Caribe is one of the most beautiful properties I've ever had the privilege at which to stay. From the massive deck where we spent the majority of our time, to the well-equipped kitchen, and the beautiful master bathroom, my guests and I were nothing but pleased with the villa. We made good use of the pool, the hammocks, and the beach. Rosemary was extremely helpful from the moment I made the reservation, helping me book the golf cart and the snorkeling/fishing excursions. The property is not close San Pedro; however, we were looking for something more private/quiet and there were several restaurants within either walking or golf cart distance. Plus, catching the water taxi into San Pedro is easy. I would recommend this property to anyone traveling to Ambergris Caye and I will definitely be returning.
