Central America

MILA Tours specializes in creating custom tours.  We work with all of the countries in Central America and can even combine 2 or more countries in an itinerary.  Here is a brief description of each country and what it offers.  Please contact us for a suggested itinerary and pricing.

Belize

Belize

Belize is the smallest of the Central American countries; Belize’s official language is English since it was once a British colony.  Belize is an interesting mix of people, culture, and activities.  It is well known for scuba diving and snorkeling in the fantastic coral reef that runs along the country’s many islands (known as keys).  But inland the country’s rainforest holds many Mayan secrets buried in the caves and pyramids.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is the most well known Central American country and is abounding in nature and beautiful scenery.  The majority of the country is preserved by national parks and other private reserves.   Both coasts offer miles of beaches.  Adventure travelers will not be bored with the many rivers, parks, and forests to explore.

El Salvador

El Salvador

El Salvador is small but has surprisingly good infrastructure which makes it a hidden gem.  Their Pacific Coast beaches are a haven for surfers while the mountain villages have unique handicrafts and beautiful scenery surrounded by volcanoes.  Their currency is the U.S. Dollar.

Guatemala

Guatemala

Guatemala is known for their high quality textiles and other handicrafts.   Guatemala is a shopper’s delight with many markets to browse and barter for beautiful handmade goods.  The colonial town of Antigua was the former capital and has been well preserved with cobblestone streets and now many boutique hotels and good restaurants.  Beautiful Lake Atitlan is surrounded by volcanoes and has many active things to do.  The Tikal National Park is not to be missed in the northern part of the country and also easily accessed from Belize.

Honduras

Honduras

Honduras is most famous for the Mayan archaeological site of Copan.  And also for the islands of Roatan & Utila off the coast of Honduras where snorkelers and scuba divers find the best reef.  Copan can easily be accessed from Guatemala.  Plus there is a wonderful coffee plantation near the town of Copan Ruinas.  The country also boasts great rainforest and bird watching.

Nicaragua

Granada Colonial City

Nicaragua is has been labeled by history as a war torn country, but today is a beautiful peaceful country.  The capital of Managua has been rebuilt.  The colonial cities of Granada sitting on Lake Nicaragua and Leon to the north both offer cute hotels and restaurants.  Plus there are many natural areas to visit for more adventure and great bird watching.  The Pacific Coast beaches are being developed and offer a great alternative to Costa Rica.

Panama

Panama Canal

Panama was made famous by the Panama Canal which began construction in the 1880’s to connect the Pacific with the Atlantic.  Panama also boasts untouched rainforest, beaches, and history.  With both coasts, Panama has miles of beautiful beaches.  Scuba diving is popular in the Bocas del Toro area.
