First Mate's Cottage

First Mates Cottage is a very roomy very clean house, nice and close to good clamming beach area's and our favorite store 'Jack's Country Store'. If you are coming to clam, they have 8 clam guns, altho they aren't the best. They have games for kids. A very big yard and hot tub. Be sure to bring your own presto logs as they only supply two and they are very expensive to purchase on the coast. We were allowed an early check in which was great, fee charged but fine with us. No late check out as they had contractor's coming but again worked out fine as we needed to be on the beach by (am for the clam tide. Can't go wrong with First Mate's, I just wish they had better signage at the entrance to the driveway, and both ways. We missed it every time coming from the beach because the speed limit is 50, so people are right up on you as you are slowly trying to find your turn.

We loved the home, location and we had the best weather!!

The house was well equipped and very comfortable. Plenty of space, with a well furnished play room in the basement, ping pong, basketball, fuse ball, a great add for the those rainy days. The property stands pretty far back from the water, I would say 300 yards, and the tree lines on both sides obscure any sort of panoramic view, but nonetheless it is an ocean front view. The seas are very rough, creating a constant hum, which is pleasant. It is off season, which we knew wouldn’t be ideal for spending time on the beach, but we enjoyed the site seeing just the same. There are two quaint little centers, with some decent restaurants, and a bakery.

House is very well maintained and super clean! Watch out for pokeys in the grass play area-NOT kid or dog friendly. We learned quickly to skirt that area. Quite a long walk to beach, but beautiful! The hot tub was sublime! Careful with the lid of hot-tub, it’s very heavy and hard to close-but worth it!

Great place to stay. Bbq fresh seafood on the back deck then walk to the beach. This house also has ample parking which I needed for the boat and truck.

There are too many plus’s to capture but communication far exceeded expectations - instructions, etc - everything and more you could ask for. The house is huge and has everything you could possibly think of or may contemplate thinking of. The private path to the beach is my favourite. A quick walk and hello beach! My dogs LOVED it. We didn’t use the games room but this space is perfect for families with kids. Everything was easy. We kept our dogs on leashes in the yard - there’s no fence but my dogs don’t leave my side anyway - but there little thistles in the grass (everywhere there) that get stuck in the dogs feet so just be mindful to watch where your pets roam. I loved the view of the house and loved the proximity of the beach. Town is just a short drive away!

We really enjoyed our stay! Huge yard, spacious house, nice hot tub, & a peaceful walk to the beach. We saw lots of wildlife from the house! The beach is stunning & our kids loved building castles, flying kites & exploring the dunes. Lots to do in the neighboring area. We’ll definitely be back!

This Airbnb is the best one I’ve ever stayed at! It’s better than advertised. There is a private driveway to the property. The house is well taken care of with thoughtful amenities throughout the house - fire logs for the indoor fireplace, k cups (saved the day for us!), clam guns, volleyballs, outdoor hose, and beach towels by the back door. The bathrooms had plenty of towels and toiletries. The beds were comfy and there was a ton of extra blankets. The grill worked great, had propane and was clean. You really can’t beat the awesome yard that has a path to the beach. We had an incredible stay with our pup and friends. We will definitely be back and feel lucky to have stayed at the place!

This was a great beach house for our family of 5. The spaciousness, direct access to the beach, & game room helped make our vacation just what we needed it to be.

We enjoyed our stay here. No real issues, host was responsive and accommodating for a late checkout. Easy beach access and stocked kitchen with pans and utensils. A little outdated with some minor things that could use some fixing but overall it fit our whole family for a clam dig weekend so no real complaints.

We had a wonderful stay! It was easy to make ourselves right at home and not want to leave. The kitchen had all of the amenities needed and little things like a basket of beach/hot tub towels by the door made it feel like home. Beautiful view, easy walk to the beach, easy drive to town for shopping and food. Our host was always responsive, friendly and helpful. Look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the great time!

We stayed at Robbie’s place for six nights with our son and his family. The location was so perfect because it was an easy walk to the beach with our little grandkids (2 and 4). The expansive sandy beach provided hours of entertainment for the little ones. The kitchen is well stocked, though we did have to buy a fry pan because the ones there were terrible. It would be good to replace those. All of the appliances were fine, it was very handy to have a good washer and dryer. We slept in the king bed on the main floor and it was super comfortable. Bedding was great; there was a variety of blankets. We brought our own pillows, which I was glad about because we are picky about pillows. I would definitely recommend Robbie’s place.

The house has plenty of room, the kids love the game room in basement, the walk to the beach is not too far. The only complaint has to do with the hot tub. The cover has 4 holes underneath that have been plugged by tape and various plumbing plugs. One of the plugs that was glued in came out and little styrofoam beads went everywhere! But overall an older but great spot to stay if you need plenty of room

Overall it was great. Needs some work and some items added to really have it nice. We added a dish/pot scrubber and sponge. It should have a larger non-stick pan for eggs and stir fry. The screen doors should be WD-40 treated or updated. These are little things. The location is very good and a nice short walk to the beach.

The house was big enough to fit 3 couples. The kitchen was stocked with all the pots/pans/utensils you could need. The property was spacious and beautiful. The trail to the beach is a great walk. Uncomfortable beds was the only issue. Great location!

My parents, grown siblings, children and spouses gathered in this house for a lovely long weekend gathering. The house is comfortable, has room for all to spread out, and has lots to do inside and out. Long beach often has overcast weather, so having the indoor games (foosball, ping pong and board games) made it so we always had something to do, and we could continually switch which members of the family we were hanging out with. We loved being able to do outside activities in the yard, and to easily walk to the beach. As a huge bonus, it is also possible to drive a few minutes away to the beach. This was helpful if we had lots of stuff we wanted to bring, but also helpful as both of my parents have mobility issues. The walkers and the drivers could meet up on the beach with ease (driving on the beach is allowed in Long Beach). The house is generally in good shape - it's just not new or fancy, but it is comfortable, which was perfect for us. I would definitely recommend staying here, and we will look to the house and the company again in the future.

My sister and I took our families here for five nights at Christmas and it was wonderful. Giant yard and hot tub and short trail to the beach (5-8 minute walk). View of ocean is good from main floor and very good from bedroom on top floor. Well-stocked kitchen and tons of seating. Beds were good. Basement area was fantastic for the kids. My 90 year old dad used bedroom on main floor and bathroom on that floor was great for him with easy access shower. We will be back!

I felt like I stepped back in time to my best friend’s house back in the Midwest! It is definitely dated in terms of decor and general style, but it was clean, cozy, spacious, and had a wonderful airy-ness. The hot tub was perfection after dunking in the cold ocean. The upstairs bedroom has gorgeous wood paneling and an extraordinary view! A short walk from the beach where we found ourselves mostly alone - a true private walk to a nearly private beach - the best!

We spent a long week here before school started. Such a great location. The walk to the beach was 5 minutes and a lovely winding path my dog and children enjoyed immensely. The house is large with plenty of room to spread out. The decor is lacking and needs some updating. Very 1991. Even a fresh coat of paint would help! Very clean and quiet.

This is a great vacation spot! Enough bedrooms for the whole family and if doing a family reunion, you could rent the cabin next door too! It's about a 1/3 mile to the beach from the house, but it made for a great walk each day (actually, a couple of times each day). There was a working grill on the deck and the kitchen had everything we needed. The washing machine and dryer were helpful for wet, sandy clothes. We would come back to this rental!

Great house! Plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed it very much. It is so nice to walk to to the beach.

My family and friends had a great time at First Mate’s Cottage. The three levels of the house gave everyone lots of space. The huge grassy yard was perfect for kids and dogs. We look forward to coming back.

Our 3 generation, beach Christmas gathering at "1st Mates Cottage" was a grand experience. Our young & older all enjoyed the vast amount of space on 3 levels. Plenty of living room seating for all of us with the old pup in the middle! The hot tub was a real treat (plenty of tub towels in addition to bathroom towels),loved the light show! Rec-room too was a treat. Cooking our meals in the large, well equipped kitchen was a breeze. Being winter at the beach in Washingtion, we still enjoyed both decks and their views (between the gales!), top deck was the favorite. Most of us walked out to the beach several times a day as the path was clear & easy. Grandfather reveled in tending the fireplace our entire stay. Our aged, chubby labrador has issues with stairs so the large main floor bedroom was perfect for her (& us in the king bed). Mud-laundry room was greatly utilized and idealy located, definatly a plus for our wet winter stay. Everything was clean, tidy & ready to move in & enjoy. We do so hope to come stay here again, perhaps before next winter!

We love this beach house. We have stayed there twice now. It's got great views, lots of room for 10 people, plenty of bathrooms, all things you could possibly need. Plenty to do including a nice hot tub. Thank you!

We found this home with ocean view and private path to the beach a comfortable, spacious, clean place for the ten of us. Six adults and for children ages 6-12 found plenty of indoor games for family fun. The living space was spacious with cozy comfortable furniture in a large living room. After an active day, the hot tub was a bonus. This house is close to Ocean Park groceries. It is a short drive to fun in Long Beach. We had a happy stay here b

What a great family rental! Game room, hot tub, and plenty of beds. Absolutely loved the private trail to the beach. It may be windy but we had two days of no rain, great for the winter. We 4 seniors have stayed here for a 5-night girls' getaway during the last 3 Septembers, and just made our reservation for next year. The house is clean and comfortable, nicely furnished and well-equipped. We love the private path to the beach and the ability to bring 2 dogs. We all hate to leave!

We loved our stay, home was very clean, kitchen fully stocked, plenty of towels, and comfortable living spaces! Kids loved game room and outside toys. Path to beach was right behind home and that was wonderful...little walk but not bad. An absolutely perfect stay!

Clean and spacious rental. Our family was able to spread out and enjoy all of the various activities throughout the house & property. The kitchen is fully stocked. Beds were comfortable. The ocean was a pleasant 5 min walk. Beautiful beach, ocean and landscape. The town of Long Beach was a short drive away and it was a really fun town. Nice firepit with benches surrounding it. Before our visit, I had to contact the agency with questions and they got back to me quickly and were great to work with.
I do wish they recycled. Another garbage can outside is needed (it was half full when we got there as it was). The foos ball table was broken, basketball game did not work and there was only 1 horse shoe, but those things were negligible compared to everything else.
As a whole, the rental was fantastic and our family thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. Definitely hope to return!!

What a great place to relax and enjoy the laidback vibe of Long Beach Peninsula! Wonderful gathering areas to do puzzles, games, enjoy the fire, and well stocked and open kitchen to create a meal with more than one cook! Relaxed in the hot tub (although a roof would be nice in the pouring rain :), strolled down the private path to the beach, enjoyed downtown Long Beach, and 5 of us comfortably watched football in the living room! We will definitely be back!

We had a great time at First Mate's Cottage! The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable. A short walk to the beach and a view of the ocean in the master bedroom. The best stocked kitchen I have ever seen. We stay at the coast at least once a year in different areas and this house was one of our favorites. We did have a mishap with the bbq and my daughters didn't pull the bbq out from the wall before cooking and it damaged the house. Kathleen was so nice to work with and even though it was an expense we were not expecting she softened the blow. Very nice people. We will be staying again...well hopefully if they will allow us;)

This home was clean, well stocked and situated in a very quiet and relatively private neighborhood. The ocean pathway was easy and fun. The home satisfied our variety of "must have's". For seven adult wishes for: unobstructed view / ocean front, hot tub, complete kitchen, fire pit (w/wood) deck, wi-fi and tv, clean. At the start of our stay the main water line broke in town. The Boomer's management and staff immediately supplied us with two cases of drinking water and additional jugs of drinking water. Management followed up by keeping us posted and making sure we were hooked up again asap. Great stay. All seven adults and two dogs ENJOYED!

This is the third year in a row that we have rented this home. It is perfect for our family. When you have to find accommodations for children and grandchildren and dogs, there are very few options available. The home is well-maintained with many conveniences included--right down to bowls, plates, and silverware. There's also coffee in the cupboard. This is very important when you roll out of the bed in the morning and have forgotten to bring your own coffee.
There's a short walk to the beach which is also a plus--especially for oldsters like us!

We rented the house for two couples and one dog. We had plenty of space! What I noticed right away in this home was that it is very clean. I felt comfortable walking in my bare feet. Also, the kitchen is spacious and well appointed. We had some bad weather while we were there but the house was cozy and we enjoyed working with a few puzzles that were there. I give a big thumbs up to the owners for the artwork and furnishings. Nobody likes to stay at a rental when it feels like there are just a lot of "leftovers". This house has just the right about of homey-ness. We truly enjoyed our stay. Oh and the hot tub was awesome as well...nicely maintained!!

We had a splendid time--7 family members in the house my husband and I built in 1980 and hope to do it again next year with the 10 the house accommodates.

Generally quite comfortable. Deck safety questionable for toddlers due to poor maintenance of gates and rails.The close proximity of the rental next door detracted from this unit due to the arrival of any extremely large and noisy group.

Awesome stay. We had 2 family's with 7 people total and 2 smaller dogs and there was plenty of room and we never felt crowded. The trail to the beach was easily to walk and well marked even to walk back after dark. It was well stocked with anything you could possibly need. The only thing that was missing was salt. With all the other spices that were provided I'm guessing this was just missed and it didn't hinder us at all. We brought a lot of our own spices for cooking but of course we forgot salt too. It happens.

We had a wonderful experience staying at First Mate's Cottage for my 40th birthday. We had a large group of 20 people so we also rented the Admiral House next door in order to accommodate all of us. These houses together were a perfect fit for our group. The large yard at First Mate was great for the kids to run around while the adults lounged in the chairs provided. The house was clean and offered all the kitchen amenities needed. We had so much fun in the rec room downstairs playing ping pong and Foosball. You do need to walk along a private trail to get to the beach but this seems pretty common in the Long Beach area and was not a problem for our group. Bloomer Estates was very helpful in suggesting houses that would accommodate our large group.
